In 2016, Anthony Scotto purchased the historic Maine Maid Inn and completely renovated it to create Opus Steakhouse (Jericho), a chic new 20,000 square foot restaurant and catering venue, unlike anything on Long Island. Both restaurants are located in beautiful Hampton's-style mansions combined with Manhattan-like interiors. Expanding the steakhouse portfolio - Rare650 (Syosset) and Insignia Prime Steak & Sushi (Smithtown) both followed from 2009 to 2011. In 2005, Blackstone Steakhouse was opened, setting a new standard for steakhouses on Long Island. In 2002, Scotto Brothers then ventured into the hotel sector, building The Inn at Fox Hollow. Anthony partnered with his daughters, Silvana and Monica to purchase this renowned catering facility in Suffolk County. In 1994, The Watermill (Smithtown) was acquired as the first venture outside of Scotto Brothers. Both were highlighted by traditional mansions with grand ballrooms and acres of beautiful gardens with lush landscaping and water features. In the mid 1980s, the Westbury Manor and Fox Hollow (Woodbury) catering facilities were acquired. Just a few years later came The Steer Barn chain - Anthony's first venture into American steakhouses, featuring a menu of steaks and chops, served up in a warm, rustic interior. In 1978, the family portfolio expanded to include the Chateau Briand (Carle Place), then a small catering facility, which they transformed into one of the region's leading venues. It was a true family enterprise and even the children pitched in, developing a passion for the business early in life. His dream became a reality in 1967, when Anthony and his brothers opened Scotto's Pizzeria in Port Washington - a little pizzeria serving quality Italian comfort food. He worked second jobs while going to night school to learn English, with the ultimate goal of opening his own restaurant. ![]() After immigrating from Italy to America in 1961, he started out working at his uncle's Italian restaurant, Romano's, in Brooklyn.
